Milk & Sugar - Summertime

A song that was originally written in 1934 by George Gershwin. One of the most covered songs ever... here’s one more.

If you’re not feeling the summer vibe yet, this track should do it for you – today’s TOTD is Summertime from German duo Milk & Sugar.

Listen to the music and watch the video and you won’t want to do anything other than drink cocktails and party on a tropical island somewhere.

DJs, producers and label owners Mike Milk and Steven Sugar, real names Michael Kronenberger and Steffen Harding, are currently celebrating 20 years of making music together, having originally formed in 1997 – although they had previously worked together under other names. If you’re hoping to catch one of their live sets, you can head to the Nature One Festival 2017 at Rocketbase Pydna in Germany on 4th August where they’re next due to appear.

They’ve got history with remakes of old tracks like this. In 2001, they put out a reworking of John Paul Young’s Love is in the Air and we still can’t decide if that was inspired or just supremely cheesy. You can hunt it down and decide for yourselves but we’re probably going with cheesy.

Some trivia for you. This Track of the Day is a remake of Summertime, a song that was originally written in 1934 by George Gershwin. It went on to become one of the most covered songs ever and it is estimated that there are now over 33,000 versions. And so here’s one more…
