Where else would one of the biggest names in the world of electronic dance music choose for a wedding? But it got us thinking, if the king of festivals had asked us to take care of the preparations, how would we have organised his typically big room-style festivities? Here are our thoughts.
- Perfect Location – by the sea
Ibiza is a true jewel of the Med and there are so many perfect places to tie the knot. You could go for the privacy of an exclusive villa in the mountains or you could choose one of the many luxury hotels dotted along the coastline. However, everyone loves the sea so we’re opting for the beach and we think it needs to be loud and unsubtle, so we’re choosing Playa de Ses Salines, the Party Island’s trendiest strip of sand.

- Best catering option – buffet with two themes
Ibiza has always attracted a varied crowd and we feel Dimitri’s spread needs to reflect that. For the more glamourous guests, we’d want to lay out some delicate Spanish tapas accompanied by flutes of chilled Catalonian cava. Then there would be a second table, probably located in the West End of the dining area, which would be heaving under the weight of kebabs, chips and bottles of cheap lager.
- Ideal DJ for the reception – Carl Cox
After witnessing the rather bizarre spectacle of one of the world’s most acclaimed DJs playing out to an empty field as the early punters trickled into this year’s Tomorrowland, it would seem that Coxy is finding gigs harder to come by as he heads into the twilight of his career. Perhaps he might be interested in picking up a few birthdays and weddings to keep things ticking over so we’ve decided to book him for the event. If Dimitri pays attention, he might even learn a few things about playing proper music. Oh yes…oh yes!
(To be fair, by the time Carl Cox came to the end of his three-hour set, Tomorrowland was rocking and it was as good a set as anyone played at this year’s festival – if the big man is reading this, we’re only joking!)

- Dream guestlist
For this wedding, we’ll need to fill a big room with lots of guests. Here are just a few of the notable attendees we hope will turn up. We’re going to invite Paris Hilton for a bit of showbiz glamour – just as long as she doesn’t get anywhere near the decks. Dimitri’s mate Hardwell had better come – he might have a tantrum if not. Another festival hero, Martin Garrix, is on the list – if nothing else, he’ll be good for keeping the kids entertained. Footballer Neymar and EDM granddaddy David Guetta will be welcome too – just because they both know a thing or two about cleaning up.
- Nightmare security – Connor McGregor
The Irish MMA fighter is obviously looking for a career change but his switch to boxing didn’t quite work out and he got beaten by an old man. We know he went out to Ibiza after losing to Mayweather and if he’s still out there and looking for work, The Notorious would make a fearsome bouncer.
We hope Dimitri and his lovely new wife had a fantastic and memorable day. The wedding photos are beautiful. But really, they should have let us organise it. We’d have done such an awesome job.
